The impending Irish Gaming Regulation Bill, which will create a new Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) to manage the nation's gambling regulations, has been discussed by Flutter.
On behalf of Flutter, Ian Proctor, Chairman of Flutter UK and Ireland, said: "As a longtime supporter of evidence-based safer gambling measures and a well-resourced regulator in Ireland, Flutter welcomes the impending publication of the Gambling Regulation Bill. The Gambling Regulation Bill will be signed by the Irish government on November 15.
"This development is a crucial turning point and shows tangible progress toward the creation of a new authority, which needs broad jurisdiction to respond to our industry's dynamic and rapid change.
"We look forward to analyzing the bill's specific provisions once they are published and collaborating positively with the new authority to implement practical solutions. These should safeguard those who might be at risk of harm while enabling the great majority of our clients to gamble responsibly.
The first Chief Executive of the GRA will be Anne Marie Caulfield, who was chosen for the position by James Browne, Ireland's Minister of State for Law Reform.
Early in 2023, the new regulator is expected to begin operations.
Flutter just released its Q3 earnings, announcing sales of £1.89 billion ($2.18 billion), an increase of 31% from the same quarter last year.
